Forge Fach

Since opening, Forge Fach has and continues to assist in the social and economic regeneration of Clydach and Graigfelen, offering a wide range of activities and facilities, which did not previously exist, for the benefit of all members of the community, young & old. These range from parent & toddler groups & ‘Melody Minis’ musical sessions for the very young, right up to groups that cater for the older population such as an ‘Over 50’s Group’, ‘Elderflowers’ exercise classes & the Alzheimer’s Society social meeting group. The Performance Factory Stage School & Design Dance Hip Hop Academy, both of whom are based at the Centre, are owned by local people and supported by Forge Fach. Both are very successful & popular, providing facilities for over 120 children who would otherwise be denied the chance to participate in such classes in their local area.

In addition Forge Fach organizes a number of Community events throughout the year such as  Family Fun Days, a Halloween disco, & a Christmas Craft Fayre, which is organized in conjunction with the Graigfelen Communities First Team.

Adult education classes at the centre are also very popular, providing training that will help develop new skills & improve employment opportunities for many, as well as supplying a valuable social activity for the older members of the community & for those who would like to return to work after suffering from long –term sickness or unemployment.

The Café & Nursery are independent businesses. The Cafe is run by the Trust and serves meals snacks & drinks for both users of the centre and for the whole community. “Forge Fach Day Nursery”, owned by Rowena Bent, provides daycare places for 24 children, thus enabling local parents to return to work. In addition the nursery has itself created new jobs for trained nursery staff.
